Is our third-year apprentice who has moved down here to do her apprenticeship with us from Atherton.

Laura will be working in the salon Monday to Friday and working late on Monday nights. She is perfecting her skills this year being in her final stages.

Is our second-year apprentice, Charli is our Cairns local,

Charli started with us as a school based apprentice and this year is doing 4 days a week.

Hi I’m Shannon,

For over 28 years, hairdressing has been more than a career for me — it’s been a journey into healthier, more conscious beauty.
At 24 years old, after struggling with ongoing health issues, I discovered my body had become overloaded and depleted from years of working with harsh salon chemicals and toxins. Under the guidance of an integrative doctor, I began rebuilding my health — and completely rethinking everything I believed about the hair industry.
That experience became the foundation of Purelyou.
Long before “clean beauty” and low-tox living became mainstream, I was committed to creating a healthier alternative:
a salon focused on organic practices, conscious products, hair integrity, and overall wellbeing.
When I moved to Cairns in 2008, there were no chemical-free salons available, so alongside my husband, we created one from home — a vision that has since grown into our beautiful purpose-built salon and a business supporting the next generation of hairdressers.
Over the past seven years, I’ve developed a deep passion and specialty in naturally curly hair, continually training with leading curl experts from around the world to better understand curls, kinks, and coils in all their uniqueness.
Today, Purelyou blends everything I care about most:
healthy hair, sustainable beauty, conscious living, and creating a calm salon experience where clients feel genuinely cared for.
