Summer Swims

Before you swim (beach or pool) soak your hair first, so saturating it with fresh water before you swim makes it less likely to take in chlorine/salt water
Put a treatment in your hair or a leave-in cream to protect your hair. Think of this as a hydrating mask for your hair that will act as a barrier between your hair and the drying effects of chlorinated/salt water
After you swim, wash the chemicals out by shampooing and conditioning. If you are heading out after your swim, salt water can actually make your hair sit beautifully, if you like that beachy style hair….. it will make it feel a bit dry but it can look good! Use a deep conditioning treatment once a week. Apply the conditioner generously to damp hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and than apply a small amount of conditioner.
2. Moisturize Regularly: You may want to use a heavier conditioner through the winter months and than refreshing with a leave-in conditioner daily over dry hair
3. Limit Shampooing: You may find during the cooler months that you might extend the time between shampooing. Remember water and friction is enough to cleanse your scalp so you can extend your shampooing timeframe.
4. Protective Styling: Protective styles help to minimize breakage and keep your hair safe from the harsh winter elements. Opt for hairstyles like braids, twists, or updos to protect your curls.
5. Depending on your winter you may opt for a stronger product to keep the water in your hair if you are in a very cold climate.
6. Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water helps to keep your hair and scalp hydrated from the inside out. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Some experts say 1L / 22kg of your weight every day.
7. Regular trims help to get rid of split ends, anywhere from 6 weeks to 4 mths, this will vary depending on your home care regime.

Humid Climates
Humidity brings out the frizz but that doesn’t mean you have to walk around with frizzy hair, it’s learning how to style it to suit the moisture in the air. Using a anti-humectant gel in a humid climate is a must & Hairspray. You don’t want to be using products with humectant ingredients as they will draw too much moisture from the air which can cause frizz, but these can draw more water in - you want to make sure you really seal in enough water into your hair strands which than you can seal with an anti-humectant over the top which can than give you more longevity.
Dry Climate
Dry climate will want to draw water from your hair making it feel dry and brittle, so using humectant products will help to attract and retain moisture from the air. It can also be beneficial to use products that combine humectants with emollients and occlusives to seal in the moisture and keep the curls well defined and frizz free.
